New Ways to Use Google Apps Calendar for You and Your Customers
When you think of calendars we usually think of a personal calendar where we just keep track of our appointments. At best, maybe we share it with our co-workers or assistants. Here are some new ways to think about how you might use Google Apps Calendar in your business.
If you use videos, pictures, audio files or pod casts to help promote your business, you may also want to think about a calendar as an additional marketing tool. In Google Calendar, you can create separate calendars. They can be published on your website and shared with their world. You can also place them in Google Public Calendars. Customers can sync or subscribe to your calendars to show them in their own work space.
I have all kinds of calendars turned on in Google Apps. For example I use school team calendars which auto sync to my calendar. Here are some ideas for calendars that maybe you could use to bring more customers to your business.
Make sure to include links to you and your website throughout the calendar!
Here are a few example ideas I came up, I’m sure you can think of more for your web site or business:
- Create a yearly calendar with repeating events for example if you deal with homeowners, you may want to create calendar tasks related to time of year. Entries might include reminders to open the pool, winterize sprinkler systems, when to fertilize and other home maintenance tasks.
- If you supply equipment, how about a yearly maintenance schedule.
- If you’re a public speaker, band, artist… just about any type of public figure, how about publishing an event schedule. You’re probably already doing this, so how about placing a link to your iCal sync feed.
- If you deal with businesses, how about a calendar that shows when quarterly taxes are due, a reminder to start holiday marketing? Maybe include dates and weeks of holidays and observances that they can use for promotions.
- If you’re a personal trainer, you could put together a monthly workout schedule for just about anything.
- How about key events in your industry.
The options are endless, so use your imagination, change your mind set from calendar to free reminder tool. Remember to include your website in the item descriptions.
