Your Google Gmail is Secure – By Default All Your Mail Is Sent https
https encryption protects your email as it travels between web browsers and email servers. https protects you data and prevents it from being read by third parties, especially over wifi communications like public hot spots. Google’s been encrypting your gmail since 2008 and now has decided to make it their default transmission protocol. The downside is it takes a little longer for your email to travel across the web.
If you’re not concerned with your email’s security and want the slight improvement back in email speed, you can turn off http at any time.
To change your settings in Gmail, select Settings then under Brower connection: choose either Always use https or Don’t always use https. No matter which you choose, Google will always log you in using https.
Administrators for Google Apps will be able to set the defaults for their organization.
If you use Gmail offline, you may have some problems, you can Learn more from Google.
