Vision, Goals and an Action Plan for Your Business
Do you have a vision for your business and have you turned that vision into goals and an action plan? Simply put, your vision describes the state or position where you want your business, and maybe personal life, to be in the future. It’s the foundation for you short and long term goals for which you can develop a detailed action plan on how to get there. You should be able to describe you vision, with absolute clarity, 5, 10 and 15 years from now. The more crystal clear you make this vision, the more motivation you’ll have as you move toward that place in your life.
With a clear vision, you can now develop the goals that will help you achieve your vision. Think of your vision as the final destination, with your goals being the steps that mark the way to your destination. A daily and monthly action plan should be used to achieve the goals you create to reach your vision.
You can use these or similar steps:
- Decide what you want and where you want to be. Write it down.
- Write your goals down, you’ll be more likely to take action if written.
- Be specific with your goals and make sure you can measure your results measureable. To say I want to jump higher or make more money is ok, but to say I will increase my vertical jump by 4” in 12 months, or I will increase my monthly income by $1,000 per month by December, are better goals.
- Note how I set a deadline in addition to the measurable goals. Make sure you set a deadline to help you stay on track.
- List the steps for you to reach your goal(s). Every step, every strategy and every decision you need to make or take should be listed.
- Put them in order and add the dates to achieve your goals on time.
- Do something every day towards achieving your goal and reaching your vision.
